External Obliques

DETAILS: Found on the sides of the abdominal area (starting at the lower half of the ribs extending all the way down to the top corner of the pelvis), the external obliques are found on of the outermost layer near the surface.

FUNCTION: Helps to pull the chest downwards and compression of the abdominal cavity. Ipsilateral (same side)side bending and contralateral (opposite side) rotation

APPLICABLE EXERCISES: Kneeling side crunch, torso twist, etc.
